Mari finds Human Centered Design (HCD) a practical, efficient way to solve real problems.
Raised in Columbia, Mari was trained in industrial design at Art Center College of Design and has mostly leveraged her skills work in social innovation. She was a Global Fellow at IDEO.org and now takes on challenges related to global crises as Design Innovation Lead at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) in New York. Guiding others through the design process has been an important part of her work for organizations such as the IRC, General Electric, Population Services International (PSI), ESADE Business + Law School, etc. The most rewarding teaching engagements have always been the ones in which client and design team are one, and travel through a project to come up with solutions together.
